The academic requirements have ramped up.
Whether your child is in a public, charter, or private school, as he or she graduates through grades, the academic requirements get harder and become more specialized. Often, the way subjects are taught changes, and your child suddenly finds the work is more difficult. A common example is the child who loved math - until math included word problems! I can help your child recapture his or her lost confidence and rediscover the joy of learning .

Here in the Bay Area we have the advantage  a highly intelligent population. Unfortunately, that also means we have academic expectations that are just out of this world! We have competition for places at every level of school. Even the best public schools are overcrowded and are holding lotteries.
Your child will be transitioning to a different school.
We're all busy. We work hard in the Bay Area. But you are spending hours helping your child with homework. Much of that time is spent searching for the right worksheet or textbook, or trying to find the homework sheet. It's time consuming and frustrating, and it destroys your evenings.  Your family deserves better. Being organized and taking responsibility are developmental steps. I can help you maximise your child's efforts. As importantly, I can help you to understand what you can reasonably expect of your child at every grade level.

If I could give one thing to each family with which I work, it would be more relaxed and harmonious evenings!

You want your child to be more organized and take responsibility.
Whether because you are moving house, or your child is moving to a private school, or he or she has graduated to middle or high school, you could find yourself with a bright kid who just doesn't seem to understand the new requirements. I can help identify any basic skills gaps  (essay writing is a common example) and help prepare your child for a smooth transition.
